Polish baritone Mateusz Ługowski completed his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań under the tutelage of dr Jaromir Trafankowski. In 2023/24, he followed the Erasmus programme at the Hamburg Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Carolyn Grace James. Mateusz also completed his degree in conducting at the Academy of Music in Poznań, where he studied with Prof. Przemysław Pałka. His conducting debut was in Polish Dance Theatre | Poznan 2022/23 and Kaunas State Philharmonic Society | Lithuania 2023, where he conducted Widma by Stanislaw Moniuszko.
In August 2019, Mateusz took part in the International Masterclass of Vocal Arts after Zamboki (IMVAK), where he performed the role of Martin in the world premier of WHEN HE WAS GOOD - A Space Opera in Two Acts composed by Ronnie Reshef.
During the 2021/22 season, Mateusz made his stage debut at the Poznan Opera House in Carmen. Toujours la mort conducted by Grzegorz Wierus and in the song cycle Kindertotenlieder by G. Mahler, conducted by Marco Guidarini. In May/June 2024, he will make his debut as Escamillo in Carmen and as Lesaut in Manon Lescaut at the Opera in Poznan, conducted by Marco Guidarini.
Mateusz is also a member of the International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Hamburg for seasons 2022/24. At the Staatsoper Hamburg he has performed the following roles:
